Sun, August 7, 2005 - 12:04 PMI'll take a crack at the couple that I know off the top of my head.
Nautical Star - From sailor lore. Sailors used the stars to find their way.
Spider Webs - Symbolizes doing time.
Swallows - Story varies, but it all traces back to sailors.
Gambling and drinking and "Man's Ruin" images should all be self-explanatory.
I think a lot of these being done today are purely for the aesthetic value.
